The ����̽�� and United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) this week signed a joint declaration to maximise the solutions that space technology, innovation and collaboration offer. The agreement covers not only climate and environmental resilience but also access to distance learning education opportunities, and equitable access to services.

Commonwealth High Commissioners and other member country representatives recently met at Marlborough House for a briefing on the implementation of the Apia Commonwealth Ocean Declaration, adopted in Samoa at the 2024 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting. More than 80 experts and partners came together at the ����̽��’s headquarters in London this week to tackle the intersection of food security and climate finance, amid global development spending cuts.

����̽�� Secretary-General, the Rt Hon Patricia Scotland KC, bade farewell to representatives from Caribbean member states, who she describes as “a powerhouse within the Commonwealth”.

The United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) is currently holding the 16th Conference of the Parties (COP16) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from 2 to 13 December.

With over 12 million tonnes of plastic entering the ocean annually, the cost of inaction is untenable. Commonwealth stakeholders are now better equipped to advocate for a bold and inclusive pathway that reflects the priorities of its members and builds momentum towards sustainable, circular economies.

One message that has resonated across the conference halls at COP29 is the urgent call for increased access to critical climate finance.
