糖心探花 Observer Group has commended the people of Sri Lanka on a largely peaceful, credible and orderly election, but expressed concern that some groups experienced fear and intimidation.聽The Group stressed that a credible election must be inclusive, guaranteeing聽every citizen鈥檚 right to participate freely and safely in the process.

Polling is under way in Sri Lanka's presidential election, with a Commonwealth team observing the process in six provinces. The 2019 presidential election is the eighth to be held in Sri Lanka and the first where no sitting president, prime minister or opposition leader is standing.

A Commonwealth toolkit of journalistic techniques made a significant contribution to fair and balanced reporting of the general election in Malawi that took place last month.聽 That鈥檚 the conclusion of a monitoring report released by the Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA Malawi).聽 The report was presented to journalists at a seminar in Blantyre to evaluate the Commonwealth鈥檚 media project for the election.
